About me

Like you, I'm a wearer of many hats: I'm an educator, a writer,  a storytelling coach, a birth doula, and a mother, among other things.

And while I've
held several careers and have experienced a long and circuitous journey to discover what I'm meant to be doing with my life, I have found that teaching and writing are in my DNA, so to speak.

In order to support both of my career loves, I have earned a Masters Degree in Education from Portland State University and a Masters of Fine Arts in Writing from Pacific University.
For the past twelve years, I've been a high school English and writing teacher in Portland, Oregon. I enjoy supporting students to find their unique voice in creative and academic writing, along with helping them develop the reading and writing skills necessary to achieve success in their futures.

I've also recently worked as a copywriter for a global e-learning community whose focus is on personal transformation and empowerment. I spent my days writing and editing email marketing copy, web page copy, interview scripts, social media blurbs, and virtual learning materials for a variety of programs.

And in my work as a storytelling and speech coach, I've supported youth and adults to craft and deliver audience-engaging, well-timed and rehearsed narratives and speeches with heat, heart and humor.

I also devote time each week to writing poetry or working on my novel-in-progress.

Really, I'm excited about most things writing, and I appreciate collaborating with others on their projects. So if you need writing, editing, speech coaching, or even individual mentoring to strengthen your writing skills, I'd love to talk with you.
